Rural tourism as a means for rural development
Tourism growth potential can be harnessed as strategy for
rural development. The development of a strong base around
the concepts of rural tourism is definitely useful for the
country where almost 72% of population resides in rural
areas. Tourism is one of the few activities, which can aid
rural development, for example:
a. Increasing level of awareness
b. Growing interest in preservation of heritage and culture
c. Environment consciousness
Under this scheme the thrust will be to promote village
tourism as primary tourism, to spread tourism and its
socio-economic benefits to rural masses.
Protection of Environment
There is always a perceived threat to the environment from
visitors in the form of air pollution and trash. In order to
save the environment from degradation following measures
will be strictly adhered too -

b. No Plastics bags
c. System for Garbage disposal
d. Use of non conventional technologies.
